Thank you, Bishop Cruz!

By Gonzalo Duque

THE anti cha-cha rally held in Makati City last Friday was rained. Meaning it got wet all over.

Talaga atang may guardian angel si Ate Glo ano? Nang dumating si Manny Pacquiao, ang ganda ng weather. And when the critics and detractors were firing their guns at her, sumamang bigla ang tiempo.

Jojo Acuin might be right. Our friend businessman Joey de Venecia III and Jun Lozada might not make it to the senate. Kasama yong dalawa sa rally e. Don’t blame us ha, we are only quoting Acuin, a top seer in this country.

We thank — in behalf of brod Pingkoy —Archbishop Oscar Cruz for giving Health Secretary Francisco Duque III a 9 out of l0 in his evaluation of his performance as a cabinet secretary.

The bishop’s rating validates the grade given by the SWS and Pulse Asia for Pingkoy. Because of these glowing reports, he is being groomed for the senate. But brod is coy about the idea, citing the grueling implications of it.

We also advised him to just to stick to his job. He is a workaholic just like our late Papang, when he was governor and health secretary.

Bishop Cruz’s heartwarming rating for Pingkoy has inspired him only too well and we join him in thanking the kind bishop.

Last December 6 was our 25th or Silver Anniversary as a “new life.” We almost died on that day, no thanks to Dengue. Maybe we contracted the virus in the Tapuac area. It took 200 soldiers of our uncle General Sinforoso Duque to look for our Type A blood which was rare at the time. Only two donors qualified because the others were either of wrong type or had malaria.

We thank God for giving us a new lease of life. Probably, He wants us to do more for his flock and Him, of course, Wala naman tayong inaatupag kundi ang ikaliligaya ng bawat tao. Tama ba ako, Manny Baby?

Katon sikayon ran kaparak ya mahilig ed basingkawel, agyo pa lilingwanan so manpikasi ta agtayo amta so nagawa. Let’s thank the Lord for the life and opportunity to do good for others. Yong para self good, mamaya na yon. Dios na ang bahala diyan.

We received a lot of good words regarding our proposal that drunk driving should be severely penalized. Many agreed with us that karamihan sa namamatay sa highway ay connected sa drunk driving. Sana pag-ukulan ng pansin ng mga awtoridad ang problemang ito. Ban drunk driving and save lives.

A visitor noticed the thousands of ugly structures in the river and fishponds beside the scenic Dawel-Lucao diversion road.

We nonchalantly dismissed it as the unchecked proliferation of fishpens. Did you know that these fishpens could cause fishkill in due time?

This is the favorite subject of former Tapuac Kapitan Alfredo Dawana who is now in the US, but the guy is correct. Unless the “crime” on our marine life is corrected, the day will soon come when our bangus industry will die. Ay panangasim pala, Meyor Al, ya dismantle en yo laray fishpen?.

Pibabalian yo pa laya, Ms. Emma Molina, our city agriculturist? Sabi nio nagdi-dismantle na kayo, akin et agaylay karakel na fishpens ey? Why can’t we follow the Binmaley example where all the fishpens were demolished? That’s political will in its true sense.
