What’s happening to our fish-rich rivers, Mrs. Molina?

By Gonzalo Duque

WE’RE in Las Vegas while we write this column.

Our hosts, Raffy Villamil and pretty wife, Elvie, have been making our stay here very enjoyable and meaningful especially at the Palazzo Hotel, you can stretch your imagination how the duo made our trip a moment to remember.

In their behalf, and thru the pages of the Punch, a warm hello daw to all of you, fellow Dagupenos and Dagupenas, just the thought of reaching you thru the Punch website has made their hearts sing.

Sikat si Ermin ja ta wala yay Punch on-line, ag nasabsabaan daw so liket da ray kabaleyan ya makada-upang palad kayo lahat hahit man lang sa internet or email.

So, lusty cheers and warm hellows!

We had left for the US hurriedly, and so we failed to write our departure column, that’s why, we say sorry, and hello again.

Ok, let’s see now, Councilor Chito Samson just informed us last night that our Lyceum Northwestern University beat the basketball team of the University Pangasinan.

We could already see the chubby faces of Marcel Novales and sports coordinator Art Tanco beaming. Thank you, thank you from the bottom of our heart, you did make us proud even while we are in another country learning about the nice things our university is doing.

Keep it up. We have pasalubong sa inyo.

Even up here, we get to know the nasty turn our politics is going into. What? Sira na si Manny Villar?

Naku, hindi naman po. Ganyan lang yan. Kung hindi siraan di hindi Philippine politics, as if you did not know.

But in fairness, may we share you what we have observed in US politics. Grabe met. Matindi met so atakean ja.

As soon. as Republican presidential bet John McCain announced his vice presidential bet, Ms. Palin, naku all the dirtiest adjectives were hurled at her kesyo may anak na nabuntis ng boy friend.

The Barrack Obama-John McCain war has reached the most lethal levels, walang binatbat ang sa atin ja, For a while, McCain ate up a few points from Obama, but at press time, Thursday, Obama has bounced back with 2 points ahead lead. Follow the development of politics or the US presidential contest, and you will enjoy every minute of it.

Our folk back there have been informing us about local news. One of these is the plaint of former Barangay Tapuac Kapitan Alfredo Dawana that the once fish-rich rivers of Barangay Lucao and most other places in the city are getting “disturbingly narrow and shrinking” so that the city’s navigational ordinance is being violated with impunity. We are reserving comment until we get a copy of the position paper being readied by Dawana’s group which, we are told, fired at City Agriculturist Ms. Emma Molina’s department.

Mam Emma, pinengneng yo pa ya, kasi met ira tay mangsigay ya idadaing da ni problem da ed saket ya balikbayan ya nag maliw met ya ABC president during the Manaois administration.

Salamat, see you next issue.
