Written in the stars

By Gonzalo Duque

WE felicitate Ms. Razzle Coquia, who was recently inducted president of the Rotary Club of Uptown Dagupan.

The pretty Rotary exec had been club treasurer for eight solid years, and the presidency should be her crowning glory. Having shown her reliability and durability in that sensitive position, she is expected to steer the affairs of the club with flying colors.

Congrats, Razzle.

At the same time, we congratulate Dr. Lucy Honrado, immediate president, for a job well done. Under her watch, the club has received awards from the District. Her speech was very memorable and touching. She said she didn’t want to die as yet because she hasn’t received yet awards from the District.

Nakakatakot naman, Lucy. Now that you have received the awards, hindi ka na natatakot mama…?

Joking aside, she has demonstrated wellness and strength.

Methinks, Lucy will still live for the next l00 years. And that’s a very long long time.

Here we go again. Cha Cha has resurfaced after getting buried for a while.

Our initial or knee-jerk reaction is its resurrection is untimely. For that again is nothing but politics.

Nakakasuka na.

We smell that some if not majority of our congressmen who are opting for it want to extend their terms. Magagalit na naman ang publiko niyan.

In spite of the known opposition of the majority to stinking politics, our solons still display their thick hides, parang walang pakiramdam.

Let’s just allow the President to continue her term till 20l0. We are almost there. Let’s be focused na lang tayo on work, work and work.

Brod Pincoy showed again that he is Number One in the SWS public satisfaction rating. Because of his topnotch performance at the Department of Health, very many individuals as well as groups want him to run for senator.

He, the family and his friends are flattered.

But he keeps telling us that he is not even thinking about it.

You see, high positions like that, especially elective ones, are not picnic. Nakasulat yan sa palad ng tao.

It’s written in the stars. So while we congratulate brod Pincoy, we want to advise him to reflect further on the idea, always bearing in mind the local sages’ advice that kung hindi ukol di bubukol.

At this point, Pincoy, if he can squeeze a portion of his crowded schedule, he will address the Child Care Development Convention at the People’s Astrodome on August 22.

Did you know that under him the DoH has been voted No. l in the whole wide world in the delivery of child care?

Sikat na naman si brod. Nakakainggit ano? But as a Duque, we’re just proud of him.
