Matulis pa si Johnny Enrile

By Gonzalo Duque

WE begin with a word of thanks.

Thank you, Ms. Herminia Meneses of San Francisco, USA for raising $2,000 as your personal donation to the Mary Help of Christians College in Bonuan Gueset, Dagupan City.

Her donation was in addition to the initial $500 she gave earlier for the same cause.

The funds were for scholarships, for those taking the priesthood.  Mahal na kasi ang tuition. With Herminia around who doesn’t conceal her care for others, this world is going to be better. Sana  magkaroon  tayo ng mga tulad niya.

We were told many of our fellow alumni at the Binmaley seminary are inspired by Tita   Herminia’s example. . Kayo rin ha, don’t just be inspired; better copy her example para mapapalaboan kau  sa langit.

But there’s a little problem. We committed a faux pax. We erred in naming Tita Hermie’s hubby as Ernesto. His correct first name is Crescencio pala. Sorry. and congrats for having such a generous and beautiful (in soul especially) wife.

We received a letterfrom  Ani Lagao.  Full of bitterness and venom because he says up to now, no conclusive word has come out regarding his missing son. We shall deal with this subject at length next time. We appeal though to Dagupan police chief, Colonel  Dionicio Borromeo  to move with  precision and speed.  Matatagal na ang kasong iyan, at isang black eye sa city police kung baga.

The fireworks over the Meralco issue are auguring well for the public interest.

It’s a well-known fact that Meralco has been charging the public exorbitant rates. Two former presidents, Diosdado Macapagal and Ferdinand Marcos, wanted to dismantle the company due to its propensity for exorbitant fees. Cong Dadong failed. Well for a while, FM was successful but using martial law powers.

It seems the little girl, Ate  Glo, might  still be able to do it. Parang kayang kaya eh, kasi, magaling  e.

In case you don’t know yet, the Supreme Court has ordered Meralco to return P30 Billion to the consumers for its unjustified charges.

Meanwhile, Sen.  Johnny Enrile was able to make the most of the issue. Nanalong senador uli  because he rode on the propularity of   the issue. Whosays Enrile is an old dog?

Matulis pa!

Let’s hope both houses — Senate and Congress — could do some real concrete action on this long overdue issue for the sake of the people.

The libel case against Bishop Oscar Cruz is a cuious one.

Malacañang should move very carefully on this one because the bishop is a man of God. And considering his political wisdom acquired overnight while being critical at the government, the Bishop might yet be grinning because of the media mileage the suit has been giving him.

Parang kandidato sa pagkapangulo e.  But it should be clarified that his moral reforms campaign would really require him to be on the forefront of things. In our book, he is okay because he is consistent and courageous.

But in fairness, those ladies who merely acted as usherettes and helpers during a party of FG were victims of overstatement.  If the good bishop could only show humility as did the Christ, he would be highly commended. We have it on authority that the ladies could be anything but prostitute, you see.
