Goodbye

By Eva C. Visperas

It has always been music to my ears every time I heard people say they always looked forward to reading this paper, including this section. That gave me so much encouragement to always do better, write better in succeeding columns.

I felt good each time readers said what was written in this column was true, especially if it involved exposing anomalies, or if readers were happy to read something amusing, or when they were moved.

To them, I say thank you very much.

Am afraid, however, this will be my last piece for this column. A bigger responsibility suddenly came and it needs my full attention. It involves continuing professional growth, thus the need to embrace it.

No, I’m not leaving Pangasinan. No, I’m not shifting careers. I will continue to write but regrettably no longer in this section.

And how do I feel when saying goodbye to someone or something I have loved for so many years? Sentimental. But there’s nothing constant in this world except change, they say. So, I have to embrace it, especially since it involves fulfilling and reaching a dream.

Yes, I just received my appointment as a regular reporter for a major national newspaper.

I’ve devoted 17 years of my professional life in the media world — broadcast, cable television and print. I will continue to do so but with some changes.

To our news sources, please continue getting in touch with me. In my new endeavor, I will even be more active and hope to write more interesting stories.

        So, see you around!
