Think about it
Ayoy will match erpat’s achievements
By Jun Velasco
WHAT we saw yesterday worried us no end.
First scene: Two internet shops near a public high school in Dagupan were full of boisterous students playing video games during school hours.
Their wild behavior showed they have kicked out their lessons for video games.
Second scene: At a meeting at the University of Pangasinan, we saw a power point presentation showing Pangasinan’s performance in oral communication at an all-time low.
You see the connection between the two?
We called our neighbor columnist Gons Duque, incoming president of the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities (PACU), about it. He said he has bewailed this condescending reality “for centuries.”
Gons’ elder brother, Cesar, meanwhile, has committed his University of Pangasinan with Johns Clements Consultants, Inc., to put up a training center to produce “employable graduates.”
Tough job, says UPANG prexy Dr. Li Rivera, “but we shall take the lead.”

Since the still unsolved brutal killing of former Mayor Jolly Resuello, all eyes have riveted to l) if the killing will be solved at all (Attn.: Director Pol Bataoil, Senior Supt. Gani Neris and Station Commander Johnny Bacbac!), and 2) Are Jolly’s two sons, Ayoy and Bogs, who are now mayor and vice mayor of the city, prepared to fill in their father’s super-sized shoes?
The haunting fact is that the city has modernized largely because of Jolly. Great challenge for Ayoy and Bogs.
But Carlenians are a lucky lot because Ayoy is showing ample signs he fits erpat’s shoes perfectly.
The coming to the scene of lady solon Rachel Arenas, who was backed by the Resuellos in the election campaign, should augur for San Carlos’ continuous progress.
Ayoy told us the city’s former info officer, Rachel Sapigao, is back to ensure the city’s effective media program.
Ayoy gave the impression during his state of the city address that he will not only duplicate erpat’s achievements, but “will try” to surpass it. Jolly would just be too happy.

Since his ascent to the Capitol, Guv’nor Spines has become out of reach. (to his close friends). Man Friday Pat Orduña says the boss needs space to clear the air before he hobnobs with the boys.
So he is taking his job seriously, huh?
In that case, Pangasinenses should jubilate. But, frankly, it’s best for him to take things easy.
Right, Orly?

Notes: Where is Benjie Lim? Minus his bravado to fight Speaker Joe de V and grand snob of the Punch’s friendly reminders, Benjie was to us a great mayor. That’s why successor Al Fernandez is continuing some of the projects he has started. Mediamen are missing Benjie’s “medical” practices, says Atong Ang. If he were not a military officer, Gany Neris will make a movie heartthrob, says Tour champ Jess Garcia.
