Playing with Fire
Manny Villar and JDV
By Gonzalo Duque
THIS column said it all before.
I said: the opposition we have in this country can’t go but down… if they don’t change their nasty ways.
At the rate most of their leaders are cutting each other’s throats, theirs is a sure prescription for political oblivion.
Ok, you say, how about their election victory in the last senatorial election?
What did you say again? Think again, the “opposition” that voted for Manny Villar are now with the administration.
Who opposed Manny’s election as senate president? That’s what I mean. Senators Nene Pimentel, Ping Lacson, Mar Roxas, Loren Legarda, who else. blocked Manny. But he won because of the admi senators.
Amidst these opposition wranglings, the handsome senator was taking it easy in the US, relax, pang presidente talaga. Di tulad ng mga nerbioyosong “kaal-yado.”
If you ask me, paktaylo mga opposition diyan. Presidential yan. Kung sa bagay, Manny is part Pangasinense. Marami ata siyang housing projects sa Sta. Barbara and Urdaneta.
He is a man to watch in 20l0.
Many are talking about PGMA’s Sona. They say that it was well researched, of course, well delivered, walang bola, punong puno ng cold data,
Someone said, “ang dami dami na palang nagawa si Ate Glo.
The most sobering comment came from Mr. Neutral himself, Supreme Court Chief Justice Reynato Puno. He said it was a great Sona.
Another Supreme Court Chief Justice, now retired, Hilario Davide Jr. described it as realistic and hopeful portrayal of the Philippines.
Mabuhay ka Ate Glo. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!

The re-election of Speaker Joe de Venecia is Pangasinenses’ pride. I can’t understand why we still have some kababayan who supported his rival. What gall!
You know, in the service of country and statecraft we need to discard personal sentiments or biases. We should think of what is achievable, realizable and quantifiable for the sake of the majority.
I agree with the inveterate idealists. But their realism sometimes borders on lunacy.
They should mind the roof above their heads, the infras and development projects we all need so that we can move on.
We have some friends (fiends?). Lagi silang umaatungal kesyo si JdV daw ay trapo and Gloria apologist. Do they know what they are talking about?
Mga nakakaawang nilalang. They are blind to what JdV has brought home from his speakership.
Maybe they thought they could beat him in a fair, democratic election. Nakalaban ko na yan e. Talo ako. But I became a lot wiser. I gained experience and wisdom, something I can’t get from any university.
What I’m saying is buhat nang naging Speaker si JdV, naging masugid na tayong sumusuporta. Because with his strategic and powerful position, he can bring about progress to our province and country.
Need I say more? Congrats, Manong Joe.
