Oca backing off before Resurrection?

By Gerry Garcia

TODAY is Easter Sunday. Easter is the principal Christian Festival observed to commemorate the restoration of Christ from the dead on the third day from Good Friday when he died crucified on the cross, which gave rise to belief in Resurrection — the rising again from the dead in bodily form. This Christian doctrine, which rests on faith in Christ’s own resurrection, maintains that in the hereafter the soul will, as in this life, be “suitably clothed”. Whatever that means, even if based on faith, this doctrine becomes completely lost to the man who doubts that Christ, who died in the crucifixion, actually came back to life after being dead for three days!

* * * *

This, to us, is a stunning jab and we find ourselves so flat on our back that we’ll need help from another one who could deliver a devastating counter jab.

Let’s get into things easier and more down-to-earth.

Like Pareng Oca’s unexpected backing off… coming as suddenly as he threw his hat into the ring. All within a month’s time.

By  his own words revealed in a full page statement in this paper’s last issue, Oscar Orbos initially admitted he had been encouraged by many sectors to  mount a provincial crusade to fight the vestiges of greed, jueteng and money politics, personal and family  interests, opportunism, terror, arrogance of power and subservience.

Oca concludes: The mission remains clear, what should prevail is the politics of true sacrifice and service to the people.

And we agree  that Oca can still be a part of the over-all effort to be of service to everyone, not as a candidate and a public official, but as a private citizen and anchor-man in a TV show centering on matters of good and bad governance.

      We hope and expect to see and hear you again on tv, Pareng Oca.
