Is Allan Peter Cayetano a liar?

By Gonzalo Duque

JUDGEMENT Day is less than two months away. Amayamay laray manggatel so ebet da o manggiwgiw.

May the best man win, and may the worst lick his or her wounds. Hope you would learn a lesson or two from the exercise.

Pundits say the Philippines is not ripe for electoral democracy. It’s too bloody, and the electorate is too mis-educated to judge and choose wisely their officials.

But, as the popular ditty would say, que sera sera.

We hope though that something good will come out of the elections.

In the senatorial race, fearless forecasts show a close fight between the two major contending parties, with no third force candidate winning. Winners are expected to come from either the Team Unity of Genuine Opposition. Kiko Pangilinan should come from either.

I just heard over the radio former Pateros Mayor Jose Capco’s disturbing revelations about GO’s senatorial candidate Allan Peter Cayetano, whom Bobby Capco’s uncle described as a “true-blue American”.

In Joe Capco’s report, Allan Peter whose mouth if full of venom each time he unleashes assaults on the First Family has been using a Green Card in his US travels.

A litany of stories has been told that the ex-future senator of the Philippines would casually be categorized in the American section, a safe distance from a group of Filipinos.

Do you think the guy who almost succeeded in making up stories to destroy First Gentleman Mike Arroyo by fabricating reports about his alleged bank accounts abroad can be trusted?

Doon lang sa attitude niya kay FG, taob na siya, how much more in cleverly camouflaging his real citizenship. Is this not awfully dangerous? How can we now trust a young man like Allan Peter?

I also got from an unimpeachable authority that his sister, Senator Pia Cayetano, wouldn’t eye a national post anymore because of their (brother and sister) nationality issue.

So there, dear readers, the young man who first made quite an impression as a defender of the oppressed and the righteous is “un-righteous” pala.

May kasabihan tayo, “ang taong nagmamarunong ay wala palang binatbat.”

In other words, the noisy are hiding something. Is this why Cayetano is loud and aggressive most of the time? Probably to cover up an obnoxious fact of life.

A vote for Allan Peter, therefore, is a vote for a fraud.

The election scene in Dagupan is vulgar, mediocre and self-serving.

Political posters are in every street and public place. Giant tarpaulins showing the faces of candidates are everywhere, even before the Comelec rule on the start of the campaign period.

Kanya kanyang gimik. Posters of Alvin and Brian Lim, Michael Fernandez, Pacoy Torio, Vlad Mata, Farrah Decano, Netu Tamayo (with his obvious ban on frats among minors), Karlos Reyna, Dada Reyna, Chito Samson and his fighting in tandem with Nick Aquino, aha, Kuya Alex de Venecia, who else?

They dupe the people of Dagupan with out and out propaganda disguised as “public service” announcements to outwit the Comelec regulation. But the public knows better, their motive too glaring and vulgar.

They are bastardizing and trivializing the election campaign

This is the reason I abhor politics. Too nauseating, corrupt, full of misrepresentation, anac na lasi, wadyan amin so kalokoan.

Sicayo ran atateng ya manangaro ed anac yo, yarawi yo ra ed marotak ya pulitika, Idasal tayo kumon ya aga ira nikotep ed kumonoy o nibantak ed mandarlang ya apoy.

Matitila ra.

May their tribe decrease!
