SAN CARLOS CITY–With a 93.5 percent tax collection performance last year, the City Treasurer’s Office here has been given special commendation by the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF).

Mayor Julier Resuello, in his state of the city address Wednesday, said Treasurer Arturo Mandapat was cited by the BLGF regional director as the city’s more than 72.7 million collection exceeded the target.

The mayor also thanked the taxpayers for remitting the correct amount of taxes promptly.

Resuello said the achievement is a reflection of the high level of people’s trust in the local government, particularly in its spending for development projects and social programs.

The P72.7 collection in 2008 reflected a 50.5 % increase over last year’s collection, or P24.4 million than the P48.3 million collected in 2007.

Mandapat, for his part, told The PUNCH that the commendation is actually already his third and he is thankful to the mayor for continuously recognizing his efforts.

He added that the media’s support on their tax collection campaign has been valuable. #
