DAGUPAN City received 100 scholarships from the Technical Education Skills and Development Authority (TESDA) for hairdressing or cosmetology courses.

TESDA Regional Director Washington Agustin turned over the certificates of scholarship to Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez at the city museum last week, during a seminar conducted by noted hairstylist Ricky Reyes, president of the Filipino Hair Dresser Cooperative.

Reyes, who owns a chain of beauty salons in the country, encouraged the city’s hair dressers to aspire to become entrepreneurs and not to be content with just being employees.

Ten of the scholarships were given to the Kapisanan ng may mga Kapansanan sa Pilipinas, Inc. (KAMPI) for distribution to its members.

Aside from the seminar, the “Ultimate Hair Record. . . .Gunting at Suklay, Pinoy Style” competition, a contest on speed in haircutting, was also held at the city plaza.
