Re-crafting Pangasinan Day celebration recalled

By Gonzalo Duque

ONE of the joys and satisfactions of parents especially a father like us is when he sees his children notch achievements.

In a sense, the Christendom event—the Birth of Jesus – is a Father to son story, hindi ba?

Our grateful Father sired a Son, Jesus, who came down to earth to save mankind from sin.

Closer to home, we were (still are) happy to learn that our Nanoy has impressed his brothers and sisters in Christ at the More than Conquerors club for carving a life for Christ.

His sojourn for Christian leadership began with his association with the federation of Christian athletes in Davao City. Nanoy is a sportsman, although he finished a management and marketing course at the San Lorenzo Ruiz in Manila.

As the new president of the More than Conquerors Club, Nanoy is bringing home the message that in these End Times, man should be ready and prepared to behave as God’s children.

Their speaker last Saturday Pastor Willie Carino, was described as very powerful “in breathing fire” into Biblical truths especially on the End Times. Pastor Willie was introduced by club founder Norman Velasco ang next speaker, according to our informant Pastor Myra Jalique.

(Pastor Myra of Cathedral of Faith Philippines is a missionary Bible teacher from their home church in San Jose, California. She is a singer-songwriter, author and a public speaker who loves to encourage people through seminars, workshops, lectures, and retreats).

More power to your More than Conquerors!

For the guidance of voters, it is really apt and proper to ask those who are running for public office especially those seeking reelection to present their performance record during their tenure in office.

            It’s but fair di ba?

Oh, yes, when we were vice governor of the province we did not sleep on the job.

The two drug rehab centers in the province – one in Burgos and the other in Dagupan City—were, in all humility, were our initiative. Kuya Joe de Venecia took over the Bonuan Binloc Facility.

The so-called epals ordinance against politicians would advertise their public works, projects even if government project was our initiative, too.

Hmmm… marami pa… o, itong pag-celebrate natin ng Pangasinan Day, galing din sa atin yan, tanungin nyo si Jun Velasco who will tell you that it came right from our beer drinking session somewhere then in Dagupan City.

Gov. Amado “Spine” Espino, Jr., now Congressman, showed a keen sense of humility when he mobilized the province to have Pangasinan Day observed on April 5 and henceforth.

Yan ang ace ng Espino administration—from erpat to son Gov. Pogi – a deep sense of history. Let’s thank the father and son for the historic feat: the crafting of the province’s founding date!

At marami pa, but humility forbids carrying our own chair!

This corner continues to receive reports that our friend Christopher “Bong” Go continues to rise in the survey for senatoriables.

Many believe that Bong Go would be the best “connect” to the Palace.

Humble, hard worker, and gifted with a positive disposition, Bong Go will be one of the province’s best “taytay” (bridge) to Malacanang.

With a conscientious senator of Bong Go’s caliber the nation is in good hands under President Duterte.

From the grape vine, we heard that the birthday party of former speaker Joe at the Sampaguita Pictures garden was, as usual, overflowed with guests.

A sight to see was former president Joseph Estrada was brotherly to Kuya Joe. At once, we saw the spirit of friendship, brotherhood, and sportsmanship as they were opponents in the presidential race won by Erap.

Sana ganun ang politica. Hindi tulad ng nangyari sa Daraga, Albay where party-list Rep. Rodel Batocabe was killed recently suspiciously engineered by an unsporting politician.

Under the JdV-Erap political norm, may pag-asa pa ang bayan!

After being moribund for five years, the Tondaligan Blue Beach Subdivision Homeowners Association is back in tiptop shape under lady president Anne Tade.

They will have their Christmas Party with Mayor Belen Fernandez and Kapt. Noel Bumanglag as main guests.

The association has been officially recognized by HLURB.

We notice that panay mga babae ang mga officers tulad ni, aside from Ann, Jovy Aguia, Celsa Beltran, Julie dela Cruz, Letty Repancol, Letty Lozano, who else? Aha, may mga active na lalake pa Chito Beltran, Manny Santos, Johnny Valencia, Dr. Tony Coquia, Romeo Centeno, and Carlos Maiquez.

OK, congrats, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
