Dagupan most child-friendly city RP-wide

By Gonzalo Duque

WE are all witnessing an inutile or tolerant Comelec amidst a heavily propaganda-bombarded environment.

Nothing new or exciting from Mayor Belen’s camp, but from the other side, they have their posters showing their handsome and beautiful faces.

Angnakaka-ano (hindi ko mabanggit kasi shocking e), ay ang pagkakandidato ng dalawang political allies niBrian Lim para diputado, sina formervice mayor Alvin Fernandez at former councilor Red Erfe-Mejia.

In other words, these two gentlemen are running against re-electionist Toff de Venecia, and against each other!

    Mantakin nyo yan!

Mgapersonal friends ko ang dalawang ito,and in our heart of hearts, there is more than meets the eyes on this account, making us wonder if this could be done if former Mayor Al Fernandez were still alive.

Judging from the many, expensive tarpaulins containing Alvin’s and Red Erfe’s bill boards, mukhang hindi na biro ata ito, millions of pesos ang budget diyan.

Back to reality, we are happy to learn that the city under the leadership of Mayor Belen was just adjudged “Most ChildFriendly City” nationwide.

You know what that means? Hindi plastic ang programa ng lungsod. Ang mga bata ay supersensitive, kaya huag nyo sila bolabolahin. They know everything!

Btw,Dagupan has been Most Child Friendly City in Region 1 for four consecutive years and National Finalist for 3 years and now the PRESIDENTIAL AWARDEE,highest among the top 4 national finalists for independent component city Naga, Ormoc and Cotabato.

The award which was under the auspices of the DILG, took note of Assn of Barangay Captains Brian Kua’s special role in the child-friendly citation for the city.

Ditto with Barangay Kapitans Tess Coquia and Julita Perez. Mabuhay kayo!

US-based journalists Fred Gabot, publisher-editor of Philippine News, and PDI columnist Percy Della, one-time media director of then California Gov. Arnold Schwarzeneger; California-based Fil Am leader Peter Sayo, and former Kapitan Apring Dawana are guests onThursday of the Pangasinan Breakfast Club.

Gabot was former president of the National Press Club. Sayo and Dawana are reviving the US Statehood movement. Hmm, ok…

A Binalonan native, Gabot is the grandson of the famous writer Carlos Bulosan. Bakitkaya ang mga taga-Binalonan magaling sa letters and news publishing? We know another well known Fil-Am publisher of Asian Journal, taga-Binalonan din, Rogel Oriel. Congrats!

Birthday greetings to Jess Garcia on Dec. 18! He will be 73. Lucky number yan! I understand Diputado bet Tim Orbos is backing a cycling event in the 4th district on that day. Susundan ng 1st district bikathon after Christmas.

    Mabuhay kayo, Tim and Jess!
