In the URL http://www.inquirer.net/ of the gallery it shows GMA hands together and continues with the caption below.

“NOT IN PRAYER. President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo props up her chin and purses her lips as she listens to a briefing on the improvements being done on the Teachers’ Camp in Baguio City. – PDI photo, 21 March 2008.

Was she really listening or she was calling high heavens for GRAFT opportunities’ for her family? Two years (2010) is a long time for the people to sleep. Sleep amidst poverty, rich families called oligarchy running like foxes in hen house, country jewels being sold to other countries for the election war chest of 2010 . Maybe to keep power beyond? Not only of Luna’s painting sold in auction but Philippine rights and sovereignty.

Ms Arroyo has been able to hold on to power through executive orders, memoranda, proclamations, etc., which curtail the citizens’ rights to be informed and to freely express themselves. And there are the people who remain her “loyal” protectors in exchange for favors made possible at the people’s expense. Let us not forget the hundreds of extrajudicial killings and abductions, whose victims were mostly opposed to the policies of the Arroyo regime.

In times when individualism reigns, collective action is a good way of showing concern for our fellow human beings and for our society. As Archbishop Cruz said “Are we our brother’s keeper.”
