Willing to step down

Undersecretary/Head PASG

Dear Ermin,
Even away from home, I make it a point to update myself about news in our home province. Thus, once more, I read another column you wrote about me, this time about my “disapproved” resignation.
I am sure I am not waging a lonely fight against perceived anomalies on the smuggling front. I have the support of majority of our people, including the media like you, who see, appreciate and support our no-nonsense crusade.
But ironically, while I get plaudits from various sectors, and surprisingly no less from the opposition, those who want to boot me out are administration allies.
Yes, you clearly pointed out that I can do not belong to a group of government officials who, despite loud clamor for their resignation, or being dragged into some anomalies, still cling to their position.
Mine is just an honest-to-goodness job and if in the process I step on someone’s toes that will put my Boss in a bind, I would willingly step down in order not to be a liability to my superior. As you very well know, my Boss prevailed on me to stay put.
I do not know until when I could stay in my hot seat. But when the inevitable time comes, I could assure you that I would bow out with my dignity intact.
Let us keep our punches harder for a better Philippines!
Again, thank you.
