It’s about corruption, not the system

Whatever side of political spectrum, any politician will be branded corrupt. The growing democratic institutions of the Philippines are still a long way to a working government. It has a system that has one person in full control with House of Representatives waiting for bag of dough, selfish interest of senators gunning to be president, and Supreme Court beholden to the president.
Each government department was established to serve the people in their constitutional mandated function. Each one supposed to serve the people and follow their oath of office not a single person.
Even the Department of Defense with its chain of command to the president has this mandate. Remember Secretary Enrile, he followed his conscience and followed his department’s top goal of serving the people.
Strong institution and vigilance in installing the 80 % political appointees to this institution are a must for preventing another People Power. Other nations have stable government because they do not need people power to throw out the corrupt. They have the bottom worker, mid-level supervisors all the way up to the President or Prime Minister to do that. They have strong laws, judiciary, and police that enforce the law to act on whistleblower, or vigilantes when it is pointed out or exposed.
Yes, the battle of good and evil rests in the hearts and minds of each Pinoy no matter where each one is. Being corrupted and not stopping it in our environments will bring our country down no matter what system anybody advocates.
