According to the news, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, chairman of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, said that Mrs. Arroyo was making it appear that corruption issues are trivial and political.

Actually, graft and corruption is not trivial and political. It is evil and criminal. There are obvious signs that law enforcers, prosecutors, judges, legislators, etc are neglecting their jobs.

Big time evil and criminals go unpunished and can steal millions or even billions of money before they are detected.

Graft is the acquisition of money, gain, or advantage by dishonest, unfair, or illegal means, especially through the abuse of one’s position or influence in politics, business, etc.

Corruption is the lack of integrity or honesty especially susceptibility to bribery, the use of a position of trust for dishonest gain, moral perversion and the impairment of virtue and moral principles.

Leonardo da Vinci said, “He who does not punish evil, commands it to be done.” It follows then that PGMA commands it to be done by pardoning Erap immediately after convictions. Erap was not given the punishment he deserved. He was given instead a reward he does not deserve.

All of those who are involved in graft and corruptions deserved to be punished. No one should be above the law.

Erap was involved in illegal practices, was prosecuted, tried and convicted of plunder beyond reasonable doubts. He deserved to be punished for committing a heinous crime against the people of the Philippines.

Dati ang batas ay death sentence ang parusa sa plunderer, di ba? Ano sa akala niyo kung bakit binago ito?

Erap is telling us now that he is willing to lead the country again, if PGMA is ousted. It sounds like adding insult to an injury and a total insult to our justice system.

These are very obvious signs that our justice system and other systems that were engineered, designed and written in our current Constitution need reforms and improvements.

Kinakailangan nang baguhin ang batas at constitution para sa kapakanan ng ating mahal na bansa at mamamayan at hindi para sa kapakanan lamang ng kakaunting makapangyarihan na kayang kayang paikotin ang batas lalo na kung mayroon silang mga kapamilya at kamag-anakan sa kongreso.

Dapat siguraduhin ng mga Filipinos na tugma ang mga ito para sa kapakanan ng karamihan sa ating mahal na bansa at hindi para sa kapakanan lamang ng mga abusado at makapangyarihan.

Filipinos need all the leverages we can make and get. Unless the systems and procedures of doing things are changed, the ability or capability of Filipinos in solving the national problems will still be very remote possibilities.
