The only time Joe De Venecia could clear his name is to be truthful with himself. He’d been with thieves, the unscrupulous all his political life.
It’s late and there would be contrition that he should have done early on to expose Arroyo, Marcos and Ramos in the past instead of protecting them.
He went beyond his rotten self to do Arroyo’s bidding in his attempt to change the concept of government to prolong her administration. What got him is but natural in contemporary politics that once he outlived his usefulness, he’s dispensable – a collateral damage in Arroyo’s scheme of things.
What’s so surprising is his lack of foresight being a paramount wheeler-dealer himself, that such stupidity will burn him and his son.
Joe de Venecia, Jr., is indeed, his father’s son.
