Think big!

The P49 million tab to solve the flooding problem in Calasiao is good enough to ease the issue but pollution that comes floating in the water is not solved.

So the engineers seem to solve one but another concern pops out. A cheaper way to ease the flood problem in Calasiao and its neighbors is to build retention ponds but this is not a panacea since people might take the opportunity of using this as their personal fish farm and flood issue comes in full circle.

You have to excuse me if the city of Chicago impresses the heck out of me. The deep tunnel reclamation project by the city is almost complete and will give flood and pollution relief to the city and its neighboring towns when the deluge comes.

It is not cheap ($3 Bln) and it took 30 years in the making. Is it practical for Pangasinan to adopt this method as a long term solution?

We have to think big for the future generations and could be used as a tool to entice outside investors for economic development.

A small Philippine neighbor has big dreams. Singapore, a city/state is proposing a deep tunnel that is similar to the Chicago design and added to the plan is a subway system.

WOW! My head is spinning out of control… this is serious money. Well heeled Filipinos and politicians travel to such modern places and could only marvel at such technology but dare not to move forward.

We have capable Filipino engineers working for these international firms that design these projects from the Middle East, Asia, and the Americas but not in our country.

Hard to think what it needs to severely change our attitude and passion for the love of our country.

We all have to dream big, think big, and plan big! Of course if we play, we pay. Cheers!
