It’s not about the gun

Dear Ms. Jara,

Your comment “Guns, toys or real, have no place in a civilized society – except in the hands of authorities” reflects a simplistic mind, one who can not be relied upon to take care of herself. It is coming from someone who doesn’t have an iota of knowledge about gun ownership and the responsibility it entails.

Do you trust your police more than you trust yourself when it comes to defending your life? Will the police be there at all times to protect your sorry little butt?

Mind you, Ms. Jara, a gun is the great equalizer. It would make these cattle rustlers think twice before they attempt to steal the poor farmer’s carabao. Or the goon from picking on the little guy.

Too bad that the Filipinos don’t have the guaranteed constitutional right to bear arms. Rather, one has to ask permission from so many people and government officials to legally buy a gun.

The incompetent Philippine government has so many laws regulating gun ownership. Stiff penalties are on the books regulating firearms. YET THEY ARE SELECTIVELY ENFORCED.

Look at the Muslims in Mindanao openly carrying guns. Why can’t the people in Pangasinan do it too?

Ms. Jara, the problem is not the guns, IT IS THE GOVERNMENT’S INCOMPETENCE TO ENFORCE THE LAWS IT HAD PASSED. And you trust your authorities? Yeah, right!
