Mr. Isidro Ramos,

Copying or now the new buzzword “benchmarking” had been a big part of the success of the Japanese economy but is only one element of the economic miracle.

Ms. Jara’s column on “Who let the dogs out” is another big element the Japanese had mastered before they went on the road of “Quality System Revolution, The Toyota Revolution.”

Besides discipline and value of one’s name is one that another forum poster had articulated need cultural change.

In Japan when one is exposed “Hara Kiri” is common. It is another of the difference we had with your model.

Striving for number two would take a lot but something of a goal with an executable plan in industry, government, & most importantly cultural change within our people.
