Scrap the SK
By Gonzalo Duque
KUDOS to the student leaders who in a recent conference in Baguio City made a position paper to scrap the Sangguniang Kabataan from our political system.
The young leaders probably saw that the SK was doing our youth more harm than good.
Santisima! Have you seen them, some SK officials, merrily riding flashy vans and starex vehicles, some even armed with high-powered weapons?
You’d be shocked, but it’s true.
So those more responsible and upright student leaders, meeting in Baguio recently, were totally right.
Try to view and study the composition of the SK official. You will find the officers’ list with “names belonging to well known politicians.” Why? Because it’s the parent-politicians who placed them there for obvious reasons to keep the family in power.
Pati na ang kultura ng magulang na may dala-dalang armalite, flashy limousine ginagawa na rin ng mga bata. Like father like son, like mother like daughter.
In point of fact, santambak na ang opisyales natin sa Council o sa Congress!
Kaya tama na, palitan na ang sistema para makahinga naman ang bansa.
Paktalyo ang bayan mo pag tumagal pa ito. Mga batang nagiging corrupt too early.

Our neighbor patted us on the back. He said, “pano yan pre, but Jose Rizal said the youth are the hope of our fatherland.”
We answered —— that’s true but not thru this wrong culture, this corrupt political culture that their parents are hopelessly mired in.
The culture of corruption in our political system is so deep and “talamak na talaga”. We need to excise it from our system.
Meanwhile, panangasi yo pa, iyarawi tayo ray ogogaw ed pitek!
The youth are our hope — but not this way please.

Our proposal for our Metrostate Construction to be re-constituted as Dagupan City’s municipio is gaining ground.
Sana tumbokin ni Mayor Al Fernandez. Guapoy itsura to may building, but what’s inside is ugly-profit motive. Hindi papayag ang spirit ni Magsaysay.
That’s why nagkakaso.
How about it, Mayor Al & Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez and Councilors?
Para sa inyo rin ang ideyang ito. You will go down in history as having built the most beautiful city hall in Dagupan!
Misalamat kayod sayan makter ya lingkor ta initdan takayoy marakep ya ideya. Right?

In world history, great achievements by great leaders happened in their youth. Alexander the Great, Napoleon Bonaparte, Jose Rizal, Emilio Aguinaldo, John Kennedy, Genghis Khan, Gregorio del Pilar and thousands more achieved their peak in the service of their nation and mankind when they were young.
The Lord Jesus Christ was crucified at age 33 but rose again to become immortal.
But we hasten to add: these great young leaders were not pawns or children of corrupt leaders. They charted their destinies untainted by their culture of the old corrupt politicians.
Sana ganun ang young natin!
