We are at war!

WHAT’S President Digong chewing all the time

Our daughter Peebles asks, is he chewing a chicklet or betel nut?

She guessed may be he is munching peanuts because he is wondering how to finish the tough job of ending the drug problem in 6 months!

What, we thought 3 months? That’s impossible, too soon. Let’s give him a little enough time, please.

His gum chewing has made him game, he’s relaxed, dib a? As if running a nation is that gamel routine, but he’d confess he’d be so lonely upstairs and he’s always thinking how to deliver… honest to a fault.

He did not say it, but in so many words, President Digong was telling all of us, we are at war, and if so, don’t stand on the way. Monstrous ang kalaban.

On his way to the podium on SONA day, we I noticed he looked fidgety, seemingly anxious, as if overly preoccupied with the problems of the universe.

But as soon as he took the mike, he at once became himself. He unleashed his renewed warnings against the criminals, the drug traders and the corrupt.

Many were asking why he did not mention names among the LGU chiefs who are hooked in drugs. Marami na ang nagbubulongan, but, on a sober note, he escaped it because some people might think he loves to hurt people. Not so. He is serious, very serious, he cares, cares deeply for our people. Mark his word, he will deliver.

Oh, yes, he spoke not just for 30 minutes – but more than hour. Ninety-eight  minutes!

Digong wanted to reach each and every Filipino to make them feel he is serious in putting a stop to all that is pulling the country the river.

In asking his countrymen to follow his blueprint for a free country – free from crime and corrupt — he put it a simple manner so everyone wouldn’t misquote.

“Just do things right, follow the rule of law, and we’re ok, we are friends. There’d be no quarrel, there’d be no problem between us.”

But do something else that will make our children cry, our people sad and bitter, away tayo. Words to that effect.

His first SONA was definitely a hit, “da best, more than presidential”, someone said.

We’re sure Filipinos will henceforth talk about it, that SONA, endlessly as a frank,  candid, supremely honest, and effective invitation to our people to be great again.

What we believe we should be doing though is to help enable him and his team to   implement what he vows to do, is not to stand in the way.

He is on the right track. That, we all agreed.

We have but one life to live. Let’s live it well. In accord with what the law says and what God wants us to do.

Good luck, President Digong and our countrymen!
