Kapitan as the drug dealers’ protector
By Bebot Villar
ALLOW me to share with you one trivia about the anti-drug efforts of Bataan Provincial Police Office under the leadership of the Provincial Director PS/Supt. Rhodel O. Sermonia. I know this guy to be a true officer and a gentleman.
Out of 232 barangays in Bataan, 139 are moderately affected for the period January-August, 2015! (This data was provided by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 3 director Gladys Rosales).
I am sharing this with you because Bataan and Pangasinan have common denominators. Both provinces have barangay captains-pushers actively involved in illegal drug trading!
The only difference perhaps is the extent of financial support by the two provincial governments to police efforts to curb illegal drug trading in their respective territories. Bataan is providing more but despite the support, there are still139 moderately-affected barangays in Bataan!
It only shows that mapa-Maynila o probinsya man, many barangays continue to be drug-infested because the drug dealers are being cuddled by the barangay captains themselves! Malaking challenge ang sitwasyon na ito para sa mga mamamayan dahil based sa performance ng kanilang barangay captains ngayon, they can already make the right decision this early! Would they like a barangay leader for the community’s good or someone who will lead them to hell?

Looking at The PUNCH’s update on the War vs. Illegal Drugs in the last issue, it appears that our law enforcement units are serious in their efforts to impact on the illegal drug problem.
PDEA was able to get a High Value Target in Binmaley by arresting the No. 1 drug pusher in the area; Pozorrubio Police nabbed 3 drug personalities under its second watch list; combined efforts of CIDG, PDEA, Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group and Sta. Barbara Police arrested a member of the notorious “Linog” Drug Group in Sta. Barbara and a school teacher in Alaminos City who has been in watch list since 2013, was finally collared!
With these encouraging developments, it’s time we all share in the campaign against illegal drugs.
Mr. Teacher! There are many legitimate way to earn more honestly pero mas pinili mo ang easy money. ‘Wag mong idamay ang buong Department of Education (DepEd) sa pagkasira. But since you have been arrested, sa kulungan ka na lang puwede magturo ngayon!
This monitoring by The PUNCH serves as good update for all Pangasinenses because this information is not available to all barangays, unlike drugs, basta available madaling malaman! Di ba Kap???

Our families cannot be completely safe from the scourge of illegal drugs for as long as there are still protectors from the government and the police. As long as we have these kinds of people in the community, our action against the illegal is marginalized. The anti-drug abuse strategies will always be ineffective.
Gustohin man natin ma-restore ang death penalty, this is not prudent today for as long as our justice system is flawed! This is why we understand kung bakit maging ang ating pangulo ay hindi kumbinsido sa ideyang ito. Hindi natin siya maaaring sisihin dahil may katotohanan naman talaga na may problema ang justice system natin!
Our justice system favors the wealthy and influential people who can use their money to manipulate the court proceedings. Hindi na po ito bago. This has been tolerated by our government for the longest time.
Sabi ko nga and I will say it again and again, I am keeping my fingers crossed with the hope that families of the criminal protectors will not be exempted from being victims of illegal drugs! Karma ang tawag diyan!

Last week, the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) conducted a Seminar-Workshop for Prosecutors, Judges and Law Enforcers in Cooperation with the Supreme Court’s Philippine Judicial Academy (PHILJA) in Cebu City.
Our main objective is to assist our prosecutors, judges and law enforcers in handling drug-related cases. Mas marami pa kasi ang record ng case dismissal instead of decided cases!
It is often argued that that dismissal of drug-related cases are due to inability to of police officers who were personally involved in the anti-drug operations to prove compliance with established procedural rules for arresting suspects. Sana lang talagang ina-absorb ng ating mga seminar participants ang lecture ng ating mga known resource persons and legal experts during the seminar in order that we may see more incorrigible drug dealers behind bars.
