Why not “Senator Rachel” ?

WHETHER we like it or not, the political pot in Pangasinan and elsewhere in the country is already brewing. Painit na nang painit kasabay ng patindi nang patinding summer heat.
Yung mga prospective candidates have been making their presence felt. Nagpaparamdam na sila, hindi na maiiwasan yan, and you have to read their body language kung sakaling medyo nagpapakipot pa.
Truth is, daig ng maagap ang masipag, di ba? Most often, yung mga hindi transparent sa kanilang intention ay napag-iiwanan. Hele-hele bago kiyeme, naku hindi na yan uso. Urong-sulong, lalong big no no no. Kung may target ka, dapat may focus ka at dapat may timetable ka. Kelan ka pa nga ba gagalaw, kung election na?
Remember, yung masugid na manligaw, siya ang nagiging winner! Napapalambot niya ang matigas na puso ng kanyang nililigawan. He gets the opportunity to adjust kung ano ang kailangan and what needs to be changed.
Ito ang strategy ng maraming wannabes sa politics like former Congresswoman Rachel Arenas who has been touring the country dahil meron siyang inaasam na pwesto.
Okay, let’s go straight. Rachel has her political ad Push Mo Yan Teh being aired in a regional television network at sa isang cable station sa Dagupan. I’m not quite aware kung meron na rin sa ibang regions but what I’m very sure of is, lagi siyang umiikot in all corners of the country.
Maraming kandidato ang pumupunta sa Pangasinan to campaign, from presidential aspirants to senatorial bets, ramdam na ang kanilang panunuyo sa Pangasinan. Rachel has that advantage dahil naging Pangasinense na rin siya by choice.
According to the 2010 census, Pangasinan has a population of 2,779,862 people. The official number of registered voters in Pangasinan is 1,651,814. Mas dumami pa ito sa ongoing voters’ registration.
No wonder candidates include Pangasinan in their top and priority destinations or campaign areas dahil sa dami ng botante dito. Being vote-rich, malaking puhunan na yun kapag merong taga Pangasinan na kandidato para sa Senado. Kaya maraming gustong makipag kaibigan sa mga Pangasinan political bigwigs ay dahil big plus factor to boost someone’s candidacy for a national elected position kapag suportado ng Pangasinan.
Based on information sa internet, the top 10 vote-rich provinces in the 2013 elections are (in descending order) Cebu, Cavite, Pangasinan, Negros Occidental, Laguna, Bulacan, Davao del Sur, Batangas, Rizal, and Nueva Ecija.
Malamang nabago na ang data for the 2016 elections dahil pwedeng mas maraming dumagdag na bilang ng botante sa isang probinsya kaysa sa ibang lugar.
But the fact remains that Pangasinan is vote-rich at kapag nagka-isa ang mga tao dito, we can send to the Senate a kabaleyan aspiring to become senator. Kapag may senador tayo from Pangasinan, malaking bagay yun in terms of projects that would be brought to the province.
Senators Pedro Ma. Sison from Urdaneta City, Cipriano Primicias Sr. from Alcala, Geronima Tomelden-Pecson from Lingayen, Leticia Ramos-Shahani from Asingan and Lingayen, and others who traced their roots in Pangasinan, made us all proud Pangasinenses.
Yung iba nga, they love to tell Pangasinenses na yung lolo nila or kung sinu-sinong binabanggit na tao from Pangasinan ay kamag-anak nila para lang ipakita sa atin na they belong, they’re one of us.
So why not Senator Rachel Arenas from Malasiqui who had been twice elected as congresswoman of third district and unopposed for her third term but opted to give way to her mom na matagal nang nangarap maging congresswoman?
Maraming good qualities si Cong. Rachel na pwedeng-pwedeng isabak siya sa Senado. In fact, when Senate President Franklin Drilon came to Dagupan City last week, binanggit nya ang pangalan ni Rachel na nasa senatorial list ng Liberal Party. She is one of the best congress representatives of her time, sabi pa ni Senator Drilon.
After many years na wala tayong senador from Pangasinan, it’s about time we have one this coming 2016 polls.

Still about the elections, iwasan na ang siraan ng personalan dahil pati ang mga pamilyang hindi na sana dapat madamay ay nakakaladkad pa dahil sa hindi magandang pamumulitika.
Anyway, all aspirants naman are all decent and professional kaya hindi na kailangan ang siraang ‘below the belt’ dahil wala naman maitutulong! What needs to be done ay pagandahin ang inyong plataporma de gobyerno so that makita ng mga tao kung sino sa inyo ang talagang mas deserving.
Tandaan n’yo, lahat ng nakasalamuha nyo at naka-siraan nyo during campaign and election periods will still be the same people na paglilingkuran kung sino man ang mananalo sa inyo.
‘Ika nga, tayo-tayo rin lahat ang magkikita muli pagkatapos ng panahon ng election kaya’t mas maigi na walang siraan at nang sa ganun ay madali tayong bumalik sa dati at pagtutulungan.
Lahat naman tayo ay nagnanais lang naman na mapaayos pang lalo ang ating mahal na probinsya at kung paano pa mas lalong susulong at uunlad kasama ang ating mga mamamayan na bumubuo rito.
