‘I want my boys to fight the best’–Danny Lim

EVEN dark clouds above formed by Typhoon Mario did not prevent the grand opening of UCAAP (Universities Colleges Athletic Association of Pangasinan) games last Thursday at the Dr. Salvador T. Duque Gym on the LNU campus.
Yes, no rain, no flood could stop the players, the fans and the guests–VIPs and common people alike–from coming to the big athletic event in Pangasinan.
As to the absence of guest speaker, former Rep. Mark Cojuangco, we were politely approached about his being whisked to Sri Lanka. But his reliable representatives, Mayor Mark Macanlalay, his teammates in the gubernatorial race, and Party-List Abono chairman Sendong So were present.
Oh, yes, top officials of the participating educational institutions UPANG-PHINMA, International College of Excellence-Urdaneta, PSU, Phil. College of Science and Technology-Calasiao, PIMSAT, AIE, and the two LNUs-Dagupan main and Urdaneta branch showed their strong and enthusiastic presence.
Our friend, PIMSAT executive Art Tangco who, like Jun Velasco, was former Boy Councilor of Dagupan City, told us he has never seen such a well-attended gathering of sportsman and sport enthusiasts!
A new friend, Danny Lim of Urdaneta’s ICE, acknowledged his team “Maharlika’s” defeat to LNU’s Dukes.
Not showing any hint of dismay, Danny said, “We’d rather lose to one above us than win to one below us. We want to fight the best.”
Danny is excited by his Maharlika’s chance to hit the national limelight made possible by joining the UCAAP games.
In the games, LNU’s Dukes beat Maharlika by only two points. But what really much to us was the friendship and camaraderie of everyone.
Pisalamatan tayo pay UPANG Asst. COO and UCAAP treasurer Ms. Lia Zanares Calo, for her effectiveness in collecting the dues.
Likewise to Chris Calaguio, games lead coordinator; Jun Marzan of the technical committee, and others.
Oh yes, our coach Angel Gumarang who was nervous when the Maharlika dribblers staged a come-from-behind against our 20 points lead and almost wrested the Dukes 2-point victory.
But like what we said, super masaya ang laro, kaya lahat panalo!

Ano na naman itong gulo na pinag gagawa ng mga media alipores ni Cabangon Chua na pawang paninira kay Mayor Belen Fernandez?
Ito kasing kumpare natin na si Orly Navarro, a victim of shooting kamakailan, ay nagpapagamit sa may-ari ng DWIZ-Dagupan radio station.
Ang pagpapasama sa magandang pangalan ng tao like Mayor Belen dahil sa isang kaso na wala naman siyang kinalaman ay walang kasing sama.
We have all the sympathy and prayers for Orly, as we have joined those who sincerely prayed for his safety and restored health.
We have a simple request, pare Orly: stick to your guns as a true broadcast journalist.
This is one rare occasion you can do for yourself, your family, our colleagues whose master should be the truth–and not any employer. Huag kang padadala at padidiktahan. Maraming mata ang nakatuon sayo. Your neighbours especially. Be a man of courage and integrity. No amount of “press management” which some people close to you are known for can make a cover-up for the truth.
Ang timing pa naman ng shooting incident ay napakasama kasi nataon sa battle of public opinion concerning the questionable MC Adore sale issue. It is our good fortune in Dagupan and Pangasinan that we have an enlightened media and a sophisticated public. And thanks, too, to hi-tech, the internet and the social media for serving as a vehicle for truth.
Sicayo ran kakaiba ed media agkayo padidiktaan. Money is good when used properly like guarding a good names and building up great institutions. But to use the media to promote falsehood, character assassination, and selfish and private interests will make heroes of journalism roll in their graves.
At this point, we suggest Mayor Belen to now take a tough position against elements that have no agenda but destruction. It’s but fair and it is your duty to safeguard the truth.

The Presidency is hurting, because this is a point in our history when reforms are being undertaken decisively.
Isang good point for P-noy yan. But, hindi na siya pwede after his one-year term.
Mag-shop na lang tayo ng pwede… yung pwedeng-pwede po…huag yong pwede na rin.
From the array of presidentiables, did you notice one from the South who is sober but firm, brilliant but not showy? He only moves when it was necessary to do so.
We are referring to Senator Sergio Osmeña. He has a great background, with a grandfather as the country’s 2nd President, Sergio Osmeña, Sr.
Grace Poe is acceptable–but too inexperienced, too greenhorn. Maybe Sergio’s vice president, very ok.
