Restore the death penalty for drug dealers
By Bebot Villar
THE Chinese national caught in Quezon City in possession of 10-kilos of shabu was clearly mocking our laws and officials.
What was that Chinese drug dealer thinking? Did he think his arrest was just a joke? That he can make fun of our laws and of our authorities? That he can easily get away with murder, so to speak? He was rude!
That Chinese drug dealer deserves a lot more than two slaps. A life sentence is not even enough for him! He and his cohorts must have been operating in the country for a long time before his arrest and the 10-kilo shabu seized from him may just be a small part of the hundreds of kilos of shabu he had disposed to ruin the lives of our young people.
I can only hope that our lawmakers who are against death penalty already realize this consequence by now.

At naganap ang krimen in broad daylight, bandang 8:45 a.m.
Just two days before the shooting incident in Dagupan, a lawyer was shot dead inside his house in San Fabian town.
More than two months na since na-suspend ang permit to carry firearms outside of residence (PTCFOR) sa Pangasinan dahil sa pagpaslang kay Urbiztondo Mayor Ernesto Balolong last June. But in those two months, tila lalo pang dumami ang shooting incidents at madalas, isinasagawa ito ng mga riding-in-tandem.
Speaking of the unsolved case of Mayor Balolong, there were other murdered mayors whose cases remain unsolved: Jose Peralta ng Balungao; Gil Nava ng Aguilar; Guerrero Zaragosa ng Tayug; Conrado Rodrigo ng San Nicolas; Arthur Cabantac ng Agno; Jolly Resuello ng San Carlos City; Ruperto Martinez ng Infanta.

Last week, the personal driver-bodyguard ni DOJ Sec. Leila de Lima ang “nag-amok at namaril” din sa Urbiztondo kasama raw ang tatlo nitong bodyguards(??)
We heard na he even collared a 74-year old lady!
PNP Chief Purisima, what have you done about it? Why has he not been disarmed or charged?
And who gave him three bodyguards when he is not a DOJ official?

The gun ban, clearly, did not deter criminals from carrying firearms. What it did was to deprive legitimate and responsible gun owners the right to defend and protect themselves.
Sana, i-recommend na niya ang kaagad na lifting ng PTCFOR ban because clearly it has not helped stop the shooting incidents.
The increasing number of shooting incidents in Pangasinan needs “out-of-the-box” solutions. The setting up of checkpoints helps but it is not enough, since only motorcycles are being checked. Oplan Sita or Oplan Bakal also help but it is not enough.
The intelligence community must expand its network in the communities to help identify the masterminds and hitmen before it becomes too late for many.
