Re: Tourists enjoy a different 100 Isles
The government of Alaminos City has to be congratulated for what it has have done to bring in tourists from around the world to enjoy 100 Islands National Park. Until management of the park was turned over to the local government, 100 Islands was just a name. Now the park is an experience.
On the contrary, Dagupan City with its beautiful beaches seems to have a local government that lack sthe know-how to bring in tourist dollar. Yes, many come to Dagupan as balikbayans but these visitors, in general, do not spend tourist dollars. A TOURIST will spend hundreds of dollars. Balikbayans will spend pesos. Tourists stay at hotels and eat at restaurants. The balikbayans stay at home and have someone cook for them. What is there for tourists to do in Dagupan? Nada! There is nothing to do in the city other than go on a picnic at the beach. Go to a casino? He must go to La Union or Baguio. First class beachfront resorts, a first class restaurant or night club? In Dagupan, nada! Even Mangaldan has a three to four star hotel. Otherwise, a tourist must go to La Union or Olongapo. Could be Dagupan is trying to compete with Olongapo in the flesh market, otherwise, as far as trying to bring in tourists, I hate to say this because I love Dagupan but as far as tourists go Dagupan City is just another one horse burg.
