Barangay Pantal in focus

IT was inspiring to engage Brgy. Pantal Chairwoman Julie Ann Fernandez Perez in a Serbisyong Bayan forum last Thursday afternoon.

As usual, Julie was at her scintillating self, inspiring, unifying and appealing to constituents of the second most populous barangay in Dagupan City, to continue being united, hardworking, cooperative and supportive.

We consider Kapitana Julie as the best or one of the best barangay leaders and reliable pillars of developmental work under Mayor Belen Fernandez.

Her portrayal of her own barangay exudes a sense of achievement or performance, having restored unity and cooperation among his constituents. She was happy to be able to show that she made a difference in local governance.

One point that we discussed was the non-stop nitpicking by incorrigible detractors against Mayor Belen.

We told Kapitana that the best judge of the Mayor’s performance was how well the barangays are performing.

Lumalabas na Kapitan Perez was able to show that she is a dynamic leader even for a short period of 7 months at the helm of the barangay council of Pantal. She was able to show a clear evidence of leadership and performance.

According to her, hindi nila pinapakinggan ang mga masasamang sinasabi ng mga detractors.

Siguro parti yan ng “demo-critic” society ano? But negative reporting won’t last lalo na kung halata ang paninira for its own sake or they are paid black propaganda. Nakikita at naaamoy din ito e.

Para sa kanya the best gauge is what is going on, in her barangay and, for that matter sa ibat-ibang barangay ng Dagupan.

So I tell the people of Barangay Pantal; wala na kayong hahanapin pa kaya tumulong na lang kayo ng buong katapatan at sinceridad for a continued dynamic leadership under Kapitana Julie.

There are loose talks in Manila that civil society elements are now launching an ouster move against President Aquino. They are saying that things are getting out of hand especially in giving the country a very corrupt image.

Nasabi na natin dito na ang kabataan ay wala nang kumpyansiya sa gobyerno dahil lumalabas na sila pala as a general rule ay corrupt.

Wala nang inspirasyon ang mga kabataan.

In fairness, rehabilitation Czar Panfilo Lacson is all praises to P-noy because of his anti-corruption advocacy.

Sinabi niya nung in-exposed niya ang PDAF noon, walang nakinig sa kanya sa Senado.

Alam naman nating lahat kung ano ang ginagawa ng Administrasyon on the anti-corruption campaign. Kung tayo ang tatanungin, we want all the guilty punished.

We extend our condolence and sympathy to the family of our friend Behn Fer Hortaleza who died last week from kidney problems. He was good writer and loyal to his friends to a fault.

We might have differences on some issues, but we salute his consistent advocacies.

May he rest in peace.
