Re: Dagupan’s first MRCF now on test run

Dagupan City should be commended on its initiative for reducing dumpsite waste. In Union City California, garbage is separated into three barrels: One for recyclable glass, plastic jars and bottles, metals, paper and cardboards. The second the for garbage and non recyclable items. The third is for yard waste (plant matter, etc.), table scraps and used paper food containers. The items in the yard waste barrel is then turned into mulch after which it is given free to the residents of the city for use as organic fertilizers. The program has been very successful and not only has it reduced the amount of items going into the dump yards but has also provided much needed employment.
