Re: Irreparable damage
We never know when a natural calamity will occur. Recently, over 100 people died in the Visayas earthquake. It was only through God’s providence that there was not a tsunami to cause more havoc. Which brings to mind, how many more lives would have been lost if there had been a tsunami. The foresightedness of former Mayor Lim anticipated that the Philippines, being in an active earthquake zone, was highly susceptible to tsunamis. He devised a plan to build a hill to lessen the impact of the rushing waters which the tsunami would cause.
Mayor Lim was defeated in the last election by Belen Fernandez. One of the first things Her Highness did was to undo every project that had been started by the former mayor. One of these was the tsunami hill. Had the Visayan earthquake caused a tsunami, how many people would have died due to Belen Fernandez’s stoppage of the hill. Ego is a wonderful thing as long as it has no ill effects on the lives of others. This does not seem to be the case on how Her Highness rules. Like the Red Queen (Queen of Hearts) in Alice In Wonderland, if Her Highness disagrees with you it’s “Off with their heads!”
Victims of Her Highness’ wrath has been the ridding Dagupan City’s river of illegal fish ponds. Dagupan City’s river had no illegal fish ponds until Belen Fernandez was elected. Now in less than a year there are almost 100 of these ponds in operation, River boats designed to bring tourists dollars and jobs into the city are now only a dream of the past, The hope of having a first class hotel, the McAdore, jobs and money for the city is being tied up by the mayor, possibly to any eliminate any competition which the hotel would bring with her EcoPark project, Again, the tsunami hill designed to save lives has been stopped.
With what Her Highness has accomplished in less than a year, how much more damage will she wreak on the city because of her arrogance. Her only accomplishment so far has been to appear in the TV news and the Punch Slide show.
