Re: AN OLD FRIEND?

After seeing Mayor Lim’s picture on the Punch slide show, I just knew that it was there because of something derogatory in nature. True to the Punch political ideology I was right! P.T. Barnum once said, you can fool some of the people some of the times but not all the people all the time.”

As the use of the computer expands many newspapers are loosing their power, and subscriptions, trying to fool the mass. I truly hope that the Punch does not become one of dinosaurs, a relic of the past. It is important that we who live outside the Philippines be kept abreast of the news. I can understand a newspaper having a political viewpoint but it is not the business of a newspaper to brainwash its readers. As far as I know the Philippines still has the freedom of the press but with that freedom also comes its responsibility to tell the truth not lies by innuendos and omissions. “No man is to be reverenced than the truth.” Please practice what you preach.

(Editor’s Note: The picture was provided by the city information office. The published photo carried the caption prepared by the CIO (as a reaction to the presscon of Solo de Venecia) and Solo de Venecia’s side.  Other newspapers only carried the CIO’s version  and nothing about Mr. De Venecia. Perhaps you will enjoy reading them more).
