Libel

Gonz Duque

By Gonzalo Duque

LOCAL courts will have their hands full tackling several – this is unprecedented in Pangasinan jurisprudence! – libel cases against certain persons including two broadcasters or pseudo broadcasters in Dagupan City.

Say anta ra manggagalaw yay makter ya linkor.

They underestimated us.  Btw, it’s not us who have filed or are filing libel complaints. Many of the complainants are alumni of Lyceum Northwestern University. They did not find the damaging and abusive broadcasts that ridiculed and vilified LNU as an institution and its graduates funny.

There are about 200 cases filed in several parts of Luzon where the broadcasts were heard.

It’s unthinkable because we were in the midst of celebrating our new doctors and lawyers — all LNU alumni — with one landing in the top ten nursing exams.

The curious, insidious and explosive thing is that Mayor Benjie Lim is being unmasked as the financier of these libelous broadcast practitioners for doing the dirty job.

Ay kawawang koboy ang mga ito!

Magsilbing aral ito sa mga broadcaster pretenders. Tira la ran tira ta sicato met lanti dicta na amo… agda la ninamot no macaderal na honor o reputasyon na arom a totoo.

Yes, dear readers, these pseudo broadcasters read in the air lanes the offending unverified letters that claim we or LNU was selling college, masteral and doctorate degrees. Agla linmad ulo ra no gawa gaway ambaguel itay report!

Matindi, grabe, makapatey!

DepEd Regional Director Teresita Velasco will file her complaint in San Fernando, La Union, while Edwin Ferrer will file in San Carlos City or Lingayen.

Many of our students will file in their respective residences – in Bolinao, Rosales, Tayug, Burgos, Sta. Barbara… ay, kaskasian ira raya. But they deserve to be charged and jailed.

Our publisher Ermin Garcia, himself a victim of licentious broadcasts because of you  know who, has written in his column that no amount of reasoning that the broadcasters were motivated by the public interest if per se their reports are false and malicious would save them. These guys were probably thinking they were in the jungle!

Sicato laya may ibabagay mamasiken to look before you jump!

Agkayo balasubas! You enjoy destroying and damaging people? Now, the law will get at you.

Asakitan so eskwelaan, pati gradweyts ya inanosan da kalamor so mansupal, man master tan mandoktor.  Nitan ki  balet ya minamaso yo ray inocenten totoo!

Grabe damage ed negosyoy LNU. Pakwenta min maong ompiano na calculay damage, mga milyones ya agagui!

Anto ya met, Mayor Benjie, abayag kami lad trabaho tan edukasyon, dakkel la and incalculable so tulong na LNU ed ciudad tan probinsya!

Let the wheels of justice turn and protect and save our society.

Well, we have been receiving calls and text messages encouraging us to go after the anarchists in the air lanes.

We assure them we won’t stop until we obtain justice.

Please listen to the “ey ey” of a young PT graduate: “bakit, sir, pinapatolan ni Mayor  Lim  itong mga intriga ng mga mapanirang answer?”

We told the alumnus, “ Maybe, the mayor is the one behind the intriguing report.”

Tamimi so ogaw.

We wish to thank the Association of Private Schools, Colleges and Universities in Region I headed by Dr. Macky Samson for its resolution to the KBP urging investigation of radio stations and broadcasters who have maligned private individuals.

APSCU has urged the KBP to apply its full sanctions against its erring members… these licentious, abusive and libelous broadcasters… this is the only way to protect the public and sustain a healthy media and democracy in the community.

Yes, pare Ashok, freedom is not absolute.

It’s Agew na Pangasinan last Friday.

Mabuhay Pangasinan!

We just presented the final copy of the History of Pangasinan to the province as part of the activity on Pangasinan Day. It’s has had several revisions to ensure perfection.

We thank the provincial government for sticking with the commissions. The next step is to prepare the instructional materials for the inclusion of the history book on our education curriculum.

Thank you for all the support and prayers.
