Playing with Fire
Bataoil’s charisma
By Gonzalo Duque
FIRST, as the PRISAA ended last Friday — our column-writing deadline — we wish to say “thank you to all of you who helped ensure its success.”
FLASH! In the men’s basketball games, the winners were: Calabarzon, first; Region I, 2nd, and Region 11 (Zamboanga), 3rd!
You must have read the column items of PDI columnists Recah Trinidad and Percy Della about our PRISAA games. They were impressed with our legendary hosting. The duo is now urging Gov. Spines to implement his pet project, the sports academy.
Sana maimplement na ito awa, Admin Raffy Baraan?

We single out certain helpful souls who “made our day” in PRISAA’s 5-day event.
They are, aside from Guv’nor Spines, Vice Guv. Ferdie Calimlim, staff people Atty. Virna Perez, Modesto Operaña, Butch Velasco, Malou Elduayan, Monching Morden, and all of you, lovely people!
It’s time for us, too, to express our bittersweet swan song.
Time to move on, fellas?
Why goodbye at the height of success? Because ang dami nating ginagawa, mga abays. At the LNU, we’re preparing it to be the venue for the Guv’nor’s sports academy.
LNU will assist the province in the training of coaches and athletes. We at LNU already have an ongoing kids football program in summer. Mr. Onia, an athlete sportsman from Nigeria, is our trainer.
We too have running chats with top journalists here the like of Cesar Carpio, Ermin Garcia, Al Mendoza and Jun Velasco for a possible new department for journalists at LNU. And still another one—and we’re happy for Atchi Mita Sison-Duque’s good words about our proposed book on psychic healers. Who knows, we might also open up a department of psychic science. Her research points to Pangasinan as the specific area where millions of years ago was the Lemuria or Allantis peopled by gifted spiritualists and psychics.
Dapat i-research yan maong awa?

Ugly news item: certain councilors of Binmaley town were blowing their tops during a balikbayan night at the town plaza because some of them (balikbayan) took some seats at the presidential table!
Grabe met awa? Agaylayan siblet, makapabaing!
Agda la inisip ya oportunidad dan pan entertain na aray bisitas!
Because of this, Rep. Pol Bataoil gave a brief GMRC speech on being graceful towards our fellowmen. Btw, GMRC means “Good Manners and Right Conduct.”
The best you could have done, sez Pol, was to be civil to everyone.
He likened his dealings with his congressional opponents the likes of Kim Lokin, Arthel Carunungan, Nicky Boy Reyes, etc…”We were and have remained friends,” he said.
Katon aray kalaban, angga man ontan ya manatalunggaring si Pol ed campaign trail, his foes couldn’t help but smile. They are dedicating the ditty, “He is killing me softly with his song.”
A real officer and a gentleman, Pol Bataoil is. Panon mon taloen itan ey, aber?
Ontan pa kumon, agaguid Binmaley.

So, partylist Abono has a friendly rival in 1-UTAK led in Pangasinan by former priest Carmelo Carreon as provincial coordinator. They had their convention yesterday with an impressive crowd.
So long as it is for the best interest of the majority, we’ll support it.
Mabuhay kayo.
