Re: I love Pangasinan

How do I love thee? Let me count my fingers,

I love thee, for the garbage that covers the whole landscape,

I love thee, for the polluted rivers that brings forth dengue fever and what have you,

I love thee, for the unabated corruption from the upper to the lower reaches of government,

I love thee, for the resurgence of … jueteng … guised as a legal Meridien Gaming Enterprise,

I love thee, for the newly-painted Capitol Building – an over-budgeted boondoggle,

I love thee, for the rats inhabiting the Register of Deeds, the Assessor’s Office, LTO, DPWH, and the Treasury, where without the right amount of grease nothing moves,

I love thee, for the corrupt and incompetent Provincial Police, where drive-by assasins kill with impunity,

I love thee, for the vaunted Provincial Hospitals, where people without money are pushed to the sides to die unpeaceably,

I love thee, for the Rice Processing Plant in Santa Barbara – a project taken-in-haste without checking what happened to FACOMA in the past,

I love thee, for a governor who couldn’t even see himself clearly in the mirror, who provided free rides for government bureaucrats to save his own political skin,

I love thee, for stupidity for arming the barrio captains with shotguns who are now rusting and falling apart,

I love thee, for the vaunted tourism project … in name only … the beaches are as filthy from the sewage dumping jailhouse in Bonuan, the sewage canal coming from downtown Lingayen, and river tributaries where squatters live in the riverbanks,

But, I will love thee, foremost, for being the no-complaint, ever devoted milking cow.
