An unfair covenant

INCLUSION of the kids of termed aldermen — who are identified with the camp of the present city administration — in the lineup of Veep Belen T Fernandez is a political decision that will cause disunity among loyal party followers. Whoever cooked this idea does not have the party at heart.

As experienced political pundits usually say, politics is addition. But in the case at bar, that does not hold true. It is a move designed to justify junking in the polls.

Why Belen gave her imprimatur to such an unfair arrangement is a reflection of the kind of advisers she has. Dagupan is not wanting of decent, qualified. well-mannered — unlike some of the present crop — and financially situated politicians who are waiting in the wings.

In politics, survival is the key. It’s a political exercise where friendship is an anomaly.

What guarantee that the candidate-siblings along with their parent-councilors who are in the last leg of their tour will support the vice mayor in her quest to become the first female mayor of the first chartered city of the province?

It’s 65-million dollar question.
