Re: 2 dads behind ‘jai-alai-jueteng’ in Dagupan–Samson
The allegation of City Councilor Luis “Chito” Samson Jr. regarding the reported involvement of two aldermen as protectors of illegal gambling should not be taken lightly. The council should look into this matter with dispatch.
Forget that “unwritten covenant of friendship”. Forget that “stupid” camaraderie. Think of the common good. Chito’s crusade is very timely. It might catapult him to a higher position, say, vice-mayor or mayor. Who knows?
The reported involvement of the duo will give credence to the off-and-on suspicion that other city officials are involved in some ”hanky-panky” activity. And, if the barangay captains allow this prohibited game to take root in their respective domain, it’ll give credence to the allegations that some are on the take to recoup their expenses incurred during their Asian trip.
