Re: Cars cause global warming

Edwin, you are trying to mislead again. Cars are not the only cause of global warming. Are you trying to tell us that we must go nuclear because cars and smoking are also as dangerous to humans and to our environment as nuclear? What kind of wisdom is that?

Car manufacturers are doing lots of research and developments in order for us not to be so dependent on gasoline. Hybrid cars are now in the market. We heard a lot of solar and electric cars but not nuclear powered cars, is it not? Why? You better go figure it out.

While other countries are trying to get away from nuclear powered plant, aggressive nuclear advocates like you wanted our country to go nuclear. They are going forward in their scientific research and developments but you want us to move backward. What kind of logic is that? Do you really care on the welfare of human beings and the preservation of our environment for the sake of our grandchildren and future generations to come?

Contrary to what you claimed, we are not really hiding our heads in the sand. We are concerned citizens of this planet earth who are strong believers and supporters of sustainable developments (SD), the use of our natural resources with the aim of meeting human needs while preserving the environment so that these needs can be met not only in the present but also for generations to come.

We must all focus our energy, wisdom, knowledge and intelligence on sustainable developments that will meet our needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Filipinos must be very vigilant to those locals and foreigners who advocate developments in our beloved Philippines in order to protect their own personal interests and to satisfy their financial greed. Haven’t we learned our lessons the hard way with what happened to the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant? Do we need to repeat our mistakes over and over again? I hope not. Filipinos cannot really afford it. We have limited financial resources and most of all; we do not have the luxury of time.
