Al’s sweet revenge

By Gonzalo Duque

RECENTLY, during All Saints Day and All Souls Day, we were immersed with the thought of our departed parents, grandparents and loved ones.

We prayed to our Almighty for their souls.

We want to share you a unique experience.

For many years now, this columnist always prayed to our departed parents, they who brought us into this world – made cruel by self-serving leaders (kuno) – and reared us up, educated us and implanted in us correct values, values of honesty, fair play and other centeredness.

Sicayo ran acacabat ed sayan makter ya lingkor, were sure angapon balot so nibaga yo ya nancopit tayo … alowan singa … akaoley kilan mangisompal.

You know what? Our prayers to our parents worked. Blessings upon blessings poured on us, anggapoy galaw. That’s why we advise you, dear readers, to focus on your thoughts and hearts in loving memory of your departed ones. They are, if you ask us, still around. Belated All Saints Day and All Souls Day greetings!

On Wednesday morning, we had coffee at Pedritos with some friends including Lino Fernandez and our PPC executive director Ging Cardinoza (sorry pare Jun for our inability to join the hastily transferred Media in Action at Lenox; nagka-bum stomach tayo! Successful daw, thanks to the PIA people led by Venus Hortaleza-Sarmiento, PIA reg’l director Abe Lavadia, PMS NL Director Cesar Tuliao and some of our PPC stalwarts led by Ding Micua, Cesar Carpio, Orly Guirao, Jess Garcia, Edwin Tandoc, Ed Gonzales and Jun V (he was behind the presence of Sec. Sonny Coloma in Dagupan).

We already intimated to Sec. Coloma that our family since erpat then Gov. Paco’s time was loyal Aquino allies, being LP Pangasinan chairman for years! Salamat, Sec. Sonny, you were terrific speaker at the Rotary Area meeting, according to AG Fred Caguioa.

At Pedritos, we came to know why the unity talk between former Mayor Al Fernandez and Mayor Benjie Lim failed and failed severely.

Yes, there were unity talks, as confirmed by “ambassador of goodwill” Ashok Vasandani that began 6 months back. No less than Benjie told us about it, too

But what happened to the unity talk? Why did it flop?

As Johnny Mathis would put it, “It’s not for me to say.”

Because when the COC filing came, all the Fernandezes – son and nephew of Al filed with the LP headed by mayoral candidate Belen T. ( hep, hep, not Tamondong ha?) Fernandez. Nephew Michael for vice mayor and Alfie, Al’s junior, for re-election as councilor.

We’re sure Benjie forgot that he was dealing with a much smarter, more matured politician whose son Alvin was a victim of an ugly incident scripted by the Lim camp that pictured Alvin an aggressor.

We’ll not talk much on this.

But it’s on record that Alvin’s bodyguard was murdered at the time and up to now, nobody has been arrested.

Ashok told us Benjie’s pre -COC filing moves were meant to further outsmart Al.

You already know the result. Now who was outsmarted?

We think Al can now sleep soundly, and with a naughty meaningful smile.

Bravo, Police director Sonny Verzosa for ordering Dagupan chief Bong Caramat to go after the drug pushers in Barangay Bonuan BInloc, provincial residence of former Speaker Joe De Venecia and Rep. Gina De Venecia.

If Sonny was aiming for impact, sicato la kumon so nan raid personally... so he could see with his own two eyes the seriousness of the label “haven of drug pushers.”

In our view, Sonny should not involve any Dagupan policeman. You know what we mean. Ag ira napanpiyaan, agagui. Ask Ani Lagao, agni aresolba, pwe!

We urge Sonny to get a new task force to do it – ompiano walay resulta.

Many are asking why Gonzalo Duque is not for Benjie Lim in the mayoral election.

Sicayo met, singa agyo antay ugali na ayan makten ya lingkor.

Ok, we do not want to tax you with what we came to learn lately. Councilor Jigs Seen, one of the few conscientious and honest members of the city council, was raising an angry question why the SP (Sanggunian Panlungsod) appropriated P 10-million for the renovation of Centromart, a private firm owned by Mayor Lim. In case you are surprised about this, we ask you to go to the official record. It smells just like the Awai deal. Pansarilin kapakanan ang inaatupag.

Grabe laya Manny! Dapat kasoan lara.

Callous. Pakapalan lan talaga.

Sikayo,baley, mansalita kayo.
