Re: Lim snubs SP session
Please don’t be so one-sided in your reporting on items concerning Mayor Lim VS Madame Belen and her Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP.) The role of the press is to inform the people of what is happening in an objective manner. Leave your opinions in the editorial page not on the front page. Remember the name of your paper is The Sunday Punch not Pravda.
Regarding the Mayor Lim’s SOC address, the SP had no problems allowing Former Mayor Fernandez at speak at a forum which allowed thousand of people to attend.
Fast forward to the present. The majority in the SP, at the beck and call of “her highness” Belen Fernandez, attempted to deny him the right of speaking at the Astrodome to the thousands who attended. The majority in the SP did not have the courtesy of allowing Mayor Lim the same privilege they gave Al Fernandez. Instead, these arrogant despots would have Mayor Lim speak in a room holding thousands of people less. In this de facto manner the SP was practicing the suppression of free speech. The majority Sangguniang Panlungsod should show some backbones and do what is right for the people of Dagupan instead of kissing the feet of Belen Fernandez.
Me-thinks’ that the SP is attempting a fiat against the mayor. They should try to remember that the mayor was elected by the majority of the voters and in a democracy the majority rules. Should the SP succeed in their quest, Dagupan will continue the downhill slide brought about by Former Mayor Al Fernandez, Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez and the majority, then and now, of the SP during the years of the last administration.
