Re: City Hall, SP in conflict over SOCA venue

Mayor Lim finally gave his State of the City address at the People’s Astrodome. What a surprise! Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez and her cohorts in the city council did not have the courtesy to attend the address. They locked themselves in the city council chambers where they were probably planning ways to thwart any suggestion the mayor may have. The address was delivered before thousands of the city’s residents, people who were interested in their city’s future.

Although Madam Fernandez does not agree with the mayor on anything, she should be showing the people what common courtesy is all about. Instead, she and her minions have shown by their actions that they believe themselves to be above the majority of the people who elected Mayor Lim in a free and open election.

Mayor Lim was reelected by his accomplishment during his last tenure in office. What has Madam Belen done other than be a gadfly who will disagree with anything that she did not bring forth. Her only claim to the office she holds is the Fernandez name. She has shown herself to be arrogant, effete and at times, infantile.

In case anyone is wondering, I do not know Mayor Lim. I have never met him nor have I met any other members of the city council. I am only interested in what I believe is good for Dagupan and I believe Belen Fernandez and her followers are detrimental to the city’s future.
