McArthur landed where????
We need to settle the issue since he cannot land in two different places at the same time.
The facts speak for themselves. We need to rectify the history books and erect a monument in a place where it truly belongs.
Supreme sacrifice was paid in blood, sweat and tears along Lingayen Gulf where countless warriors died in the name of freedom.
My father belonged to the 21st Infantry Division, one of two divisions tasked to defend the province of Pangasinan. Since he was the top noncommissioned officer of the Signal Company, he was able to receive raw information about the impending Japanese invasion.
Nag AWOL siya to warn his immediate family in Pangapisan so the Rayoses,Sisons and Ferrers got a headstart and evacuated towards Balangobong which is separated by Limahong Channel. When the liberation forces were coming, he also crossed the channel towards Balangobong since the whole Pangapisan North and Maniboc areas were vulnerable to shells coming from bombers and shells from battleships. Pagbalik ng father ko sa kampo, binugbog daw siya, a small price to pay for giving valuable time and information to his family.
WW II veterans are almost gone, let us give them our love and gratitude. As Gen. McArthur says “Old soldier never dies, they just fade away.” We are eternally grateful to a warrior who fulfilled his promise “I shall return.”
