Overshadowed by culture of greed

Re: “Rizal was a subversive

Professor Jacqueline Aquino Siapno de Araujo is so right. It sickens me when I see what I consider the backward slide of the country that was once called “The Pearl of the Orient.”

Buy a Canon printer and the printer is manufactured in Viet Nam. Canon is only one of dozens of companies who have decided not to do business with the Philippines. In the ’50s I remember giving my old clothes to workers working on the Japanese base where I was stationed. The same while I was in Taiwan and Korea. Now look at those countries. Why has this happened? Could it be that all the politicos, from the barangay captains to the big wigs in Manila, have their greedy hands out to line their pockets?

I love the Philippines, my second home. The country has the education, knowledge, and manpower to compete economically with ANY country.

I try to look for the good of the common people but they are overshadowed by the culture of greed practiced by those who are in power. Let us pray to the Almighty that 2011 brings about a positive change.
