The dream is still to work overseas

By Guia Charissa Cerezo

I HAVE been wandering around and thinking of the things that happened in the past year.

It has been years since I first started thinking about how I must live my life in the face of what our society has become. Since then, things have changed in our country.

2010? What a year that was! All things come and go, we had our ups and downs but still, we survived. There were days when I said to myself that giving up is the last resort. Well that is still a dilemma that I need to think about further.

We now have a new President. And now that we are facing another year in our lives, not a birthday, but a new year that is common to us all, it is a good time to re-assess our new responsibilities in the coming year.

Change. That should be our driving force. Yes, things must change. Though some parts might still stay the same.

We as a people must rouse from lethargy, and together work towards our common destiny. Part of that destiny is to “dominate the world” through Filipinos working abroad. I believe that having a job abroad still is one of the best means of earning a decent living. At the same time, we will be able to show the world that Filipinos are hardworking and competent.

Kudos to the year 2011 and the changes for the better that it will bring!
