Unquenchable Ambition

Retail politics has reared its ugly head!

The actor in this unexpected scenario is none other than Ranjit Ramos Shahani. He switched party affiliation after he was dumped as the running mate of his cousin, LP gubernatorial candidate, Alaminos City Mayor Hernani A Braganza.

The LP’s selection committee, where he is an active play-maker, has chosen Arturo Lomibao of Mangaldan. In other words, he had a hand in the selection process. Said in a blunt way, the former congressman is not as likable a candidate as he thinks he is.

Ranjit’s political demeanor must have been the overriding factor why he failed to get the nod of the LP bigshots. From a respected political leader, he is now a political butterfly. He has nobody to blame but himself. He masquerades as a leader “if he gets what he wants”.

He practices retail politics which is a big NO for politicians aiming for a higher post. With his political lineage, he should have been accorded due respect by offering him the position he craves for. The local LP thinks otherwise.

If he wants to rebound from his failed ambition, he has to return to his old congressional post. With the Estrellas entrenched in that district, it’s not even a guarantee.
