Non-residents should not vote

The vote of the people to elect their peers to represent them is one of the most basic rights of a democracy.

I do not believe that anyone who lives in another barangay, town, city or country should be allowed to vote in election that do not directly impact them as non-residents. Having an address in the barangay, etc, should not be the only thing that qualifies them to vote. I am not talking about OFWs, the military or merchant seamen. These people are out of the country due to the necessities of their employment.

During the last national elections the votes of the dual-citizens and permanent U.S. residents had a great impact on the Aquino win. These are voters who had established homes and families through out the U.S. They were people who usually go to the Philippines one or two months every year or so as balikbayans.
