Fix the basics first. Grandiose plans of extending the length of school year would exacerbate the crisis.
There are few things that could be done like putting building standards for the public schools. It will save lot of money and challenge our architects to design expandable classrooms for single class to multi-storied buildings in dense urban areas. It will improve the education of the kids if the schools are not flooded like in Bonuan Gueset’s Del Pilar school last week with only heavy down pour and no typhoon.
Another would be, the comfort room should be part of the plan so kids do not have to find the next shrub to do #1.
Having enough books for every kid also greatly help raise the educational level of those kids.
