Think about it
Top Pangasinenses in US honored
By Jun Velasco
ALREADY, the sunny skies that welcomed Noynoy’s ascent to the Presidency is getting stormy.
We need not be unsettled though as this could be due to what they call birth pains. As we posited here earlier, Noynoy won’t be surprised because his own Liberal Party is having its own convulsions. This is democracy at its purest – or rawest?
Our reservation, however, is that we may survive the slings and arrows of democratic debate, but where would the economy be going? We’re reminded by chair executives’ casual reaction to glowing comments in praise of successful economies.
“Maybe that country was under martial law or dictatorship.” To which we felt sad because we have lived with a bias for democracy.
We’ve always held that a balanced mix between discipline and freedom is ideal, a condition we have envisaged in an Aquino presidency.
Let’s hope the millions who voted for him and the bright guys and gals who now surround him with their talents and declared dedication in the art governance will provide sustained support to Noynoy’s presidency.
