‘Rainbow Collision’

By Gonzalo Duque

THE Pangasinan Press Club Media in Action forum last Wednesday had business executive and Calasiao mayoral aspirant Wilson de Vera and former Vice Mayor Ferdinand Galang as guest speakers.

They were articulate and impressive speakers, according to Ashok.

The duo spilled the beans on the Macanlalays. Nagmukha silang  ’laylay’ mga igan.

But the father and son, Vice Mayor and Mayor Mark, will have their turn at the same forum to answer de Vega’s charges. De Vega is De Vera and Galang.

We understand De Vega’s media handler is the beautiful Liezle Basa Inigo, hi-school classmate of Wilson and neighbor of Nanding in Barangay Mancup.

After the well-attended forum, the PPC people were entertained by Pedritos’ favorite habitué Al Fernandez, who, according to Ashok, gave the boys vital tips on how to discern and interpret political news.

Al daw said in effect “unless and until the filing of their certificates of candidacy is made, everything is still hearsay, positioning, conjectures, speculations, anything goes.”

Was he refuting our column item that said the LPs are wooing him to run for mayor again?  Not exactly, sez Orly Guirao, but Al, as usual, was elusive, slippery.

We still hold on to our view, as earlier whispered to us by our education partner, Dr. Macky Samson, who has his a nose on political goings-on.

There are those who say it couldn’t be Al because his son, Councilor Alfie, is unusually behaving as sidling up to Mayor Benjie Lim as Lim’s potential vice mayoral bet.

Hmm… medyo, bangking amo ya, awa, agagui?   Logic and old family values still underscore gentility among the Fernandezes, who are dyed-in-the-wool Liberals – from masiken Angel to Al’s venerable late erpat, Mama Alipio Sr. who, like our late erpat former Gov. Paco, frowned on political opportunism as a dictum of behaviour as respectable true-blue Dagupenos.

Elections, to a statesman, do not always mean victory at all costs. Elections have a lesson to teach us – the process of giving the electorate a choice. This is now being blurred because of the ugly Machiavellian practice of what the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos popularized as “there’s no substitute for victory.” Look at what happened to our country!

We are still haunted by that faded billboard in an Intramuros post, “Al pa rin.”

Mabli ya, Al ha, manpakape kad Pedritos nen Linda Mujer.

Our column article on Guv’nor Spines as “virtually unopposed” received a lot of feedback.

Some say “huag ka namang killjoy, Gonzalo, imbes na epromote  moy laban, papateyen  moy demokrasiya!  What they want is we encourage prospective opponents, Nani Braganza and Victor Agbayani to slug it out by giving them hope, even if false.

Mga loco kayo ha. Mga mahal din natin sila, itong mga pagani ganing katunggali, kaya sinasabi na natin ang totoo e. Walang laban sila, sorry, mga igan. No nanlaban la ran en Victor last time, lumabas na wa sinabi si dating gobernor, natan ni, karakel, kabaleg, gargantuan so logistics tan performance nen Spines

Just yesterday, we received this text message from Butch Velasco stating that all the six congressmen of the province have committed their support to both  re-electionist Gov. Spines and his vice, Ferdie Calimlim. Pangalaan day botos iray kalaban ey.

At this point, we wish to raise the alarm bells to those who are in a rush to run under the LP or Una. O, niya ay so naakir tayod LP corral. Pnoy wants a policy of sariling kayod, ompiano basta basta kayo ondadive mag mukha kayong kawawang koboy! Wala ray contak tayod Palasyo, si Pnoy, whose passion is “Daang Matuwid, testingen to ira tay kakaiba to no alowa ran clinging vine! That they could be relied upon in producing their own resources. Knowing them, hmmm… amta yo la tay labay kon ibabaga! Agda amtay ombagot lao la no 50 to l00 milyones!

In the local campaign trail, chopseuy ang slates, walang matuwid na daan, SS so policy, sariling sikap.

Imbes na rainbow coalition ya arkitekto nen datin Spiker Joe, say nagawa rainbow collision! Gabay yo tan, agagui? Ikotkot da kayon mabilay ed kolbert na pulitika!

Thank you pala, Congresswoman Gina de Venecia for acting on that pain in the ass, Bonuan Binloc as drug haven.

With Gina in “fury mode” (beware a woman’s fury!), we expect some concrete, decisive action on that drug haven in Bonuan Binloc. Police Chief Bong Caramat, watch out! You might be overtaken by events!

Do not forget that Gina erected a rehab center in her beloved barangay! It’s ironic that her advocacy and mission would be reversed by unscrupulous persons!

Whoever was it who thought he could get away with it forgot that the Bonuan Binloc is a De Venecia Country. Barangay nen Kuya Joe tan Gina itan!  Palpalaran may mokong ya panoobongan toy droga so favorite barangay na De Venecia couple.

We also thank the country’s foremost anti drug fighter in Manong Bebot Villar who cited Madam Gina’s action on the drug menace in that barangay. Manong Bebot is the top man of the county’s anti drugs agency, being the chairman of the Dangerous Drugs Board.

Mga drugs mokong, man pack up kila ta nitan lay Gina tan Manong Bebot!
