Re: Parents stage rally vs. principal

Kudos to the parents of Buenlag Elementary School for taking the stand on alleged irregularities by the school Principal Perla Sampaga. Considering the living conditions of some public school students, most of them struggle to afford their necessary school supplies and probably skip meals just to be able get educated, I find it disgusting to collect from the parents any amount that is unnecessary. It is insensitive and an outright corruption.

In fact there is a mandate from
DepEd that schools are not allowed to collect any payment from parents. Somehow we still see complaints about some schools doing it.

I do not see the relevance of six grade students using togas for promotional exercises. During my days, our school only suggested simple white dress. Some of my classmates even wore the hand down dresses from their older siblings.

Corrupt government officials are much criticized because of abuse of power. This principal who is accused of collecting money from parents should be thoroughly investigated and be given a harsh reprimanded as an example to deter such indiscretions.

Greed and dishonest school officials do not have a place within the school system. They only demonstrate bad examples to the children who will be the future leaders.

All citizens should be vigilant and be on their lookout for anyone be it officials or ordinary employee who does illegal activities and expose them so that Philippines will be erased from the list of top corrupt countries.
